Respecting Distance

You have set up the boundaries,
Yet to me this is a mystery,
I will respect the line you have drawn,
Although now I feel like a pawn,
The distance apart you have set,
Inspires questions of why we met,
It takes strength to follow through,
This type of promise to me is new,
Is this a test of my character?
I will respect this, so please tell her,
It was worth it & I’m glad,
In no way do I regret or am I sad,
Only thanks to you, so I’ll wonder,
In the richness of life, I will ponder.
